We have come to a point. No, we have crossed a line. No, we have crossed many lines and we are getting to the point of the inexcusable. Maybe we are inexcusable. We have in the White House a being who should not be allowed to be around children making policy that hurts children. That in itself is enough to disqualify him from serving in any public office; anyone who would do harm to children is not a good person, is a horrible person. His inability to care about human beings of any variety, except maybe himself, makes him inhumane. He is incapable of empathy. He does not feel, will not understand what it is like to suffer what many do suffer as a result of his actions. He is a sick man. There can be no doubt about this. His comments on that bus were evidence enough of a very sick mindset.
We have a very sick, sick minded being at the top of a government that, if not sick itself, because it is democratic, a government of and by and, if so, of course FOR the people. No healthy minded human being would ever bring to power a leader who intentionally brings harm to people. We do not, however, and have not for a long time, had a government that is for people. For a very long time we have had a government that is for an economy that is unfair to large numbers of people by its very nature.
We have sent people’s children to war to fight to protect that economy, to make sure that our county’s way of doing business, as unfair and inhumane as it is, is safe from those who will not do business our way, our way often at their expense. And many countries have payed a very high price for doing business as they have been forced to do business with us. There is a history we are intentionally not taught.
That history of our dealings with other countries, of our taking advantage of other countries by force, should tell citizens who are concerned with the welfare of the people about the mindset that governs the decision making processes that create the policy and inform actions. If Donald Trump can brag about grabbing pussy, he is a sick man. If our government can sacrifice its children to fight wars, covert and overt, that are for the purpose of protecting businesses that exploit the people and the resources of other countries. than the nation is sick.
And, when it happens that children are incarcerated in for profit detention centers for the sake of preventing their parents from entering the country, even if they are seeking safe harbor from dangerous situations, this is not an anomaly. It is a symptom of who we are and what we are.
That is not only sad. It is sick.
