I participated in a rally this morning and was gratified to see a good number of people out on the street in front of a hotel at which Jeff Sessions was scheduled to speak. Really, though, I did not feel that much was accomplished. Sessions has, I am sure, been greeted this way many times before.
Trump is going to visit soon and there will be a demonstration then. I am sure he has seen many before, same signs, same slogans.
There were many people there urging others to vote.
I will vote.
So will many who do not share my views. And if their candidates win, and some of them will, that will be that.
But what THAT is for many, many real human beings should not be allowed no matter what the vote. No human being should be allowed to vote for the tormenting of others, for polities that are inhumane.
But that is what we will be voting for or against. It cannot be and it should not be.
The questions we are dealing with are only political because we allow them to be made political.
We need to address the moral and ethical issues that are now mixed in with our politics and those will not be addressed through politics alone.
In many ways our moral and ethical issues are tied directly to the way we do business, to the we push morality and ethics aside so we can do what we have to do.
Everyone has to make a living.
Maybe we need to push business aside for just a little while to show our moral outrage for the immoral and unethical business as usual that is our economic system, an economic system that has coopted the political system and allowed it to push morals and ethics so far out of the picture that few care to think about such anymore.
People suffer terribly for this.
IT IS TIME FOR A MASSIVE GENERAL STRIKE AGAINST THE SYSTEM SO THAT WE CAN TAKE TIME TO CONSIDER HOW TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR ECONOMIC SYSTEM AND OUR POLITICS ARE MORAL AND ETHICAL.
